Join Us in Building a Bully-Free Nigeria!
Calling on all approved schools in Nigeria to register for free participation in the debate & drama segment of the 2nd National Week of Action against Bullying & Violence in Schools (November 10-14, 2025). This is a special Talent for Tolerance Hunt Competition & Skills development project. We will be developing crucial skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, and resilience in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The Silent Crisis: Bullying in Nigeria
Nigeria is grappling with a silent crisis: bullying and violence in our schools. We've witnessed heartbreaking tragedies that underscore the urgency of this issue. From the recent suicide of a student on June 2, 2025, at the Nigerian Law School (Port Harcourt campus), to the devastating December 2021 loss of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student from a leading Lagos school, and even the tragic case of the late artist Mohbad on September 12, 2023, bullying is deeply embedded in every segment of our society. It's not just affecting individuals; it's casting a shadow over our institutions and threatening the well-being of our youth. It's time to act decisively to protect our children and shape a kinder future.
Catch Them Young: Our Solution
The African Principals Conference Initiative (APCI) NGO, in technical partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education, is launching the 2nd National Week of Action against Bullying and Violence in Schools. Building on the success of our first edition, we believe the key to taming this menace is to "catch our students young."
Our approach focuses on three critical pillars:
- Promoting Random Acts of Kindness: Through engaging drama series, students will learn the profound impact of small, selfless gestures and how kindness can be a powerful antidote to negativity.
- Understanding Attachment Styles: We will facilitate debates and discussions on attachment styles, illuminating the crucial connection between these foundational relationships and bullying behaviors. Just as we raise awareness for SS genotype for stress-free childbearing, we must empower students with an in-depth understanding of how attachment styles influence interactions and how this knowledge can prevent bullying.
- Empowering Through Education: We will conduct talk shows in schools, distribute anti-bullying packages, and establish ABR Students' Well-being Ambassadors Clubs to create a sustainable network of peer support and awareness.
