Theme: Fixing the Learning and School Leaders Performance Gaps in Africa……a) /every child counts/ students centered learnings. b) AI tools for enhancing productivity and students’ learning experiences in Schools.

Preamble: Gartner Research has found out that School Leaders are accountable for 51% more responsibilities than they can effectively manage- and they are starting to buckle under the pressure. 54% are suffering from work- induced stress and fatigue, and 44% are struggling to provide personalized support to their direct reports. Research found that 48% of education leaders are at risk of failure based on two criteria: 1) inconsistency in current performance. There must be learnings in habits and practices. Including development of subject based standard operating procedures. 2) Lack of confidence in the leaders ability to lead the team to future success.

Most African School leaders are technically and academically competent for the offices they occupied. However, they lack self awareness of their own strengths and development areas. Education and school leaders who are unawares of their own strengths and development areas are nearly three times more likely to fail as those who possess this awareness.

Warning signs that a leaders lacks self- awareness include:

a) Becoming defensive in response to constructive feedback.
b) Preferring not to delegate tasks, even when they don’t have the right skills for them.
c) Seeking approval from senior stakeholders for decisions they should be able to make independently.

There will be a noticeable learning and performance gaps for a leader, that fails to attend a standard training program in a 12 month cycle. The APCI International training has been packaged to offer international training at local costs, for most participants that are not able to join the outside Nigeria training programs of the APCI/ Africa Top Schools team. It’s also a platform for deepening local implementation of gained international exposures for African Schools.

In summary, the goal of the yearly mandatory conference is to provide opportunity for learning the latest development, on international best practices for African educational leaders, especially on issues of educational management. Participants will be able to rediscover, co- create, and reimagine tomorrow’s logic for managing the school of the future. “The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence itself, but to act with yesterday’s logic” – Peter Drucker.

We will be using the inquiry based system to explore vital areas of students centered learnings in Africa schools, during the 2024 APCI International conference and Induction program.
