NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Presentation National High School is an all-girls, all boarding Catholic Secondary School, owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City. This school is located in a serene environment which is very conducive for learning in Ugbekun Community, Benin City, Edo State.
As a mission school saddled with the responsibility of providing a holistic education for the girl child, the institution has indeed lived up to its expectations as evident in the crop of students it produces yearly, their exploits in the various universities they secured admission into; and the feats performed by those who have graduated over the years and are now working in various companies, industries and parastatals, including some who are captains of industries. The performance of the old Girls Association is also very commendable.
This write up is intended to give an overview of how this great school has fared in the areas of providing holistic education and showcasing academic excellence. This performance would be viewed vis-à-vis its performance in external competitions, progressive admission of its students into the universities (both national and international), performance of these students in the various universities and how those who have graduated are performing in their various places of work and the society at large.
Also, to be considered is the role of the state of the art facilities which enhance the educational performance of these students.
EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS
Some of the areas Presentation National High school excelled in external competitions
Include:
i. 1st position Spell Bound Africa Competition organised by SKI HI entertainment, Lagos, 2010.
ii. 1st position Drama competition held at LUMEN Christi International Secondary School during their silver jubilee celebration 2011.
iii. 1st position Science competition held at LUMEN Christi International Secondary School during their silver jubilee celebration 2011.
iv. 3rd position Abuja Expo (2012) in a projects entitled “The Ethanol Cassathem plant”
v. State Champion (2012) in the Edo State Talent search junior category.
vi. State champion (2012) debating competition in Edo State organized by NAFDAC and also won the best speaker.
vii. State Champion in the Edo State organized Basketball competition in (2012).
viii. Award of excellence from Hallmark of labour with sets of computers for producing the overall best WASSCE Result in (2012).
ix. 1st position, free choice project (Senior category): Edo State Science Fair held in Idia College, Benin City (2013)
x. 1st position, National Stan- Mobil Organised Science Competition in Free choice project (2013) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
xi. 1st position (2013) Essay competition on global warming, “the days after tomorrow” it was held at Immaculate Conception College (ICC) Benin City.
xii. 2nd position in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPC) Science Competition for Secondary Schools in Edo State (2014).
xiii. 2nd position World Reading Day composition organized for schools in Edo State at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center (2014).
xiv. 1st position, Edo State 2018 Science Fair organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
xv. 1st position Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Expo on Science and Technology, 2018 for secondary schools in Edo State.
xvi. 1st position, Pearls Quiz Competition organized by Seplat Petrolum Nigeria Ltd. (2018) for secondary schools in Edo and Delta States.
xvii. 1st position, Society of Petroleum Engineers 2019 Science Competition in Edo State.
xviii. Presentation National High School Emerged State champion for raw materials Quiz competition held in Imaguero College Benin City Edo State 2019.
xix. Won Best Performing School 2019 in LAPO Science Quiz Competition Edo State.

Overall Best result in the 2012 West African Senior School
Certificate Examination
3rd best school in the 2018 Official WAEC Rating. The breakdown of our WASSCE rating: 2015- 3rd position, 2014 -9th position, 2013 – 4th position and 2012 overall best in West African Senior School Certificate Examination. During the Nigerian Top School award, at Airport Hotel Ikeja Presentation National High School was declared ‘Nigerian Best Girls Only High School’ that made it to the top 10 for four consecutive years, namely: 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
UNIVERSITY ADMISSION / STERLING PERFORMANCES
As partly illustrated in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the African Brands Review, our students have easy access of transition into various universities in Nigeria and overseas. This is because they are taught by qualified, seasoned, focused and committed teachers, hence, these students perform excellently well in their various universities, and in their chosen courses. Due to limited space, we cannot give an in depth inventory of all of them who have proven themselves by emerging the best in and outside their Universities. However, some few in the period under review include: Uriewhu Jennifer Oreva,1st Class Honours in Banking and finance, University of Wolver Hampton, United kingdom (2013), Diane Ndidi Isibor who graduated in May,(2017), with First Class Honours of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Valdosta State University, United States of America, Efemena Florence Egweni who also graduated with first Class Honours in Electrical Engineering from Cyprus International University, North Cyprus, (2017), Uche Okafor, a first class graduate of Economics from Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti,(2017), Enaholo Jennifer, First Class graduate of Economics Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti,(2017), Kofi Oghenerukevwe, First Class graduate of Computer Science, Covenant University,(2017) Otaigbe Jane, the only graduate who made 1st Class Honours in Industrial Chemistry Covenant University, (2017), Ajayi Olahireme, 1st class Honours in Computer Engineering, Covenant University (2018), Odera Akpata, 1st Class Honours Civil Engineering, (2018), Egwakhide-Oghuma Praise Ikpemosi, 1st Class Honours in Economics from the University of Essex United Kingdom 2018. Our products from these Universities and others not stated are living out their dreams in the various places they are working as medical doctors, nurses, Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants, pilots, Lecturers, pharmacists, Engineers and captains of industries.
PERFORMANCE OF THE OLD GIRLS
The Alumni in a way of giving back to the society is not left out of this chain of success story. The1994 Set of Presentation National High School Old Girls Association in 2018 provided the school with ultra-Modern water heaters, as they celebrated their 25years anniversary, to complement the effort of the school in ensuring that students are provided with warm water during cold weather.
Also, the 1998 Old Girls provided the School with musical instruments, while also providing other logistic support for the students. Moreover, the 1999 Set moved a bit further by providing the School with Computers as part of its reach out program to their Alma Mater.
From time to time, the members of the Old Girls Association visit the school to give the students seminars on burning issues in the society, choice of competitive academic careers and enlightenment programs.
It is important to state here that the state of the art facilities provided by the School management play a pivotal role in preparing the students for the challenges of life outside the four walls of this institution. Such facilities include an ultra-modern Language laboratory, well equipped science laboratories for physics, Chemistry and Biology, a functional food and Nutrition laboratory, and an efficient music laboratory for talented students and others who have flair for music. The presence of a vibrant and formidable Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) has also contributed greatly to the academic and infrastructural development of the school.
The school management is currently building an ultra-modern multi million naira three storey building that is expected to serve diverse purposes, pertinent among which is serving as a Computer Based Testing Centre (CBT).
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY
The attention and emphasis the school places on Co-curricular activities is also reflected in the victory of some of its products in national and international Beauty Pageant Competitions. Miss Jatto Hafsat for instance won Miss Edo 2018 and Miss Tourism, Nigeria 2018. She was also the 2nd runner up in The Most beautiful Girl in Nigeria. Another of its Product, Miss Pamela Ifejoku is the Current Miss Tourism, Nigeria. Moreover, Miss Enemigin Eseoghene won Miss African –Ukraine in 2018. Miss Ohre Omamerhi Divine won Silver Medal in (Karate) at the National Youth Games 2019. Also, Presentation National High School emerged as the State Champion in the Edo state organized Basketball competition in (2012).
All these achievements would not have been possible without the unflinching support of the dynamic and amiable school proprietor, Most Rev. Dr. A.O Akubeze, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Benin City, the dynamic school management team along with the PTSA and dedicated ever members of staff.
